Open Doors, Open Invitations

Spend the day discovering Jamestown during the annual Doors Open Jamestown event Saturday January 18, 2020. From 10:00 am until 5 pm Jamestown area museums and attractions will be flinging their doors wide open and welcoming you, your family and your friends to a FREE day of visits. What a treat!

A pedestrian tour of the city allows for easy access to all of the downtown attractions. Park your car and head out!

City Center Open Doors:

Reg Lenna Center for the Arts – Special guided tours of this grande theatre will be taking place hourly from 10:15am though 2:15pm. Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz Museum – Fully immerse yourself in the lives, career and legacy of comedies “First Couple”.

Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame – featuring a LIVE radio broadcast brought to you by WJTN from 10-11am. FREE soup available for lunch!
Doubletree by Hilton – Tour their newly renovated space and keep them in mind for a comfortable stay just a quick stroll to all downtown attraction.

Children’s Activity Corner of Jamestown – Not just for the kids! Tons of fun, interactive experienes in a welcoming atmosphere.

National Comedy Center – Last but certainly not least the museum complex offers an unprecedented experience for visitors. This venue is free to Chautauqua County residents only and pre-registration is required. Visit www.comedycenter.org to register.

Open Doors City Center Adjacent:

Still within walking distance of downtown Jamestown or a short jaunt in the car you’ll be privy to some of Jamestown’s most glorious homes, now turned museums.

Partridge Sheldon House – This 20 room mansion is now home to the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Fenton History Center – Southern Chautauqua history lives at the Fenton!

James Prendergast Library – Extended Makerspace hours and 50% off book sale.

Marvin Community House – Self guided tours.

Robert H. Jackson Center – Tour the center and learn about the Supreme Court and the Nuremburg trial.

Remember to visit the Open Door locations in the outlying areas. Have fun with the “Lost Words” event at the Audubon Community Nature Center, Tour the Busti Grist Mill. Food specials and tours will be available at the Chautauqua Harbor Hotel. If you’ve never been to the Martz Observatory now is your chance! Tour their visitor center, planetarium room and check out their huge telescopes. Explore the galleries at the Roger Tory Peterson Institute.

An exciting event for over a decade Doors Open Jamestown brings business and community members together in a really special way. “It’s great to have people downtown in the winter”, said Zach Agett of Up Close and Wonderful Jamestown. “People get to see new attractions and reminisce about their childhoods.”
