Nutcracker Act 1 Party Scene. This scene provides an opportunity for dancers of all experience levels to participate, including adults who are needed as party moms and dads.

The Chautauqua Regional Youth Ballet (CRYB) will hold auditions for its annual production of The Nutcracker on Sunday, August 18th from 1-5 p.m. at the CRYB studio, 21 East Third Street in downtown Jamestown. The timeless tale of The Nutcracker is presented annually at the historic Reg Lenna Center for the Arts and has become a holiday season tradition throughout the region.

Auditions for the 2019 production are open to dancers of all ages according to the following schedule:

1:00 Girls & Boys ages 6 to 8
1:45 Girls & Boys ages 8 – 11
2:30 Girls & Boys 11 to 14 with dance training
3:30 Advanced dancers only – girls must be proficient on pointe
4:30 Adults interested in non or minimal dancing roles (party parents, maids)

Requirements for boys: 6 to 11 – no dance training required. Ages 11 and up – dance training required.
Requirements for girls: 6 to 8 – at least a year of dance or gymnastic training; ages 8 to 10 – at least 2 years of dance or gymnastic training; ages 10 to 14 – at least 3 years of ballet training.

Audition fee for non-CRYB students is $15. All students should bring a photo for casting purposes only (does not need to be a professional photo). Girls auditioning for roles should wear a leotard, pink tights and ballet slippers and have hair in a bun. There is a girls’ changing area. Boys should be dressed in dark tights, sweatpants or shorts, and t-shirt and black or white ballet slippers. There is a boys’ changing area.

Please arrive 15 minutes ahead of your time to fill out audition form. Expect possible waiting time depending on length of audition segments. Above ages are approximate – be prepared to possibly stay for the following time slot if asked.

Performance dates for The Nutcracker are Friday, Dec. 13, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 14, at 2 p.m. in addition to a school morning performance on Thursday the 12th. For more information, contact CRYB at 716-664-9766 or visit their website at www.cryb.net

The Chautauqua Regional Youth Ballet (CRYB) is a not-for-profit organization that provides high-quality classical ballet instruction to youth from Chautauqua County and the surrounding region. CRYB production two annual productions – a community performance of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker each December and a Spring Gala performance.
