Todd Pullan, Artistic Director at the Lucille Ball Little Theatre remarks, I’m excited to announce auditions for our September production of “The Producers.” Auditions for leading roles and the company ensemble will be held Monday July 22 and Tuesday July 23 6:30 – 8:30 pm at the Lucille Ball Little Theatre of Jamestown, Inc. 18 – 22 Second Street Jamestown New York. Callbacks are scheduled for July 24. Individuals will complete a registration form and sing a vocal selection specific to their character role or sing a vocal selection of their choice for ensemble roles. Individuals will complete a short dance combination for dance proficiency. Accompanist will be provided. Individuals should bring their own music and personal planner for availability. Inquires into orchestration, costumes, properties, light and sound are welcome at auditions.

“The Producers” is a musical adapted by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan from Brook’s 1967 film where a scheming producer and his mousy accountant aim to produce the biggest flop on Broadway. This story most recently staged at Jamestown Community College November 2009 is a laugh-out-loud spectacle winning 12 Tony Awards opening on Broadway in 2001.

Pullan explains, “there are six primary lead roles, a few secondary roles and an company ensemble that the covers roles one-hundred roles such as Accountants, Convicts, First Nighters, Little Old Ladies, Storm Troopers, Chorus Dancers, Usherettes, Nazi, The Village People and more.

The primary singing acting roles include: Max Bialystock is a animated con man age 40 – 55 never at loss for charm and manners; Leo Bloom is the 35 – 45 optimistic account who longs for something more; Franz Liebkind 35 – 55 is a German playwright with pigeons in lederhosen always demonstrating his love for his motherland; Roger De Bris 50 – 60 who is New York’s most famous and flamboyant stage director; Carmen Ghia the 25 – 35 is the faith and passionate assistant of Roger De Bris. Ulla Inga Hansen is a 20 – 30 young hopeful actress passionate about life.

“I’m excited to audition a few secondary character roles including: Hold Me Touch Me female 80 year old role; Marks male 55 – 65 who is Leo’s boss in the Accounting Firm; and the old grumpy Judge Maxwell, “ notes Pullan.

Marjorie Switala joins the production team sharing her expertise in vocal performance and Wendy Marlinski is the talented and dedicated rehearsal accompanist. Holly Jones Weston and Linda Nelson will serve as co-choreographers. Jason Dorman, Technical Director will enhance the production with detailed scenes not limited to scenic projection and drops, Broadway lighting, staircases and elegant elements. The Producers opens on the stage of the Lucille Ball Little Theatre of Jamestown September 27 and continues September 28 and 29. The show continues October 3, 4 and 5.
