It’s almost summertime, which means it’s time to get ready for summer reading! The library has an exciting month of events and programs in June:
On June 4th at 6:30PM, Tracy Mitrano will present “Internet Safety for Families.” This free presentation will address common concerns that both parents and kids have about internet safety. Parents and children are welcome to attend.
The library’s quarterly half-off booksale will run from June 6th-8th during the library’s open hours. All books will be half off – $1 for hardcovers, and 50 cents for paperbacks and all children’s books. Shoppers can also fill bag with books for $10.
Our Summer Reading kickoff event is coming up on Saturday June 8th from 11:00-3:00. Drop in to enjoy crafts and free play in the Makerspace, outdoor games, and Sundance Kids Petting Zoo at 1:00.
On June 13th, the library is participating in Give Big CHQ! Join us in this 24-hour online fundraiser to support the library and other local nonprofits! Visit our page on Give Big CHQ to learn more.
The library’s Summer Reading Challenge will begin on June 24th!
– Children, teens, and adults can compete for our grand prizes
by reading! This year’s summer reading theme is “a universe of stories,” and we’ll have fun space-themed activities all summer, including balloon rockets and moonwalk stop animation.
All participating children and teenagers receive free books as prizes throughout the summer.
The library will offer expanded children’s programming all summer.
On Monday, Thursday, and Friday mornings at 10:30, stop by for Preschool Makerspace. This new program invites children 6 and under, and their caregivers to come enjoy sensory based play in the Makerspace. Older siblings and friends are welcome.
Storytimes run on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10:30. Come by for stories, songs, and open play!
Our regular children’s programming continues, with free, fun activities for kids every weekday from 3:30-5:00. Minecraft club is every monday, and the makerspace is open Tuesday-Friday.
Check us out on Facebook or at prendergastlibrary.org to see our schedule of activities in the Makerspace.
We continue to offer a variety of programming for adults, including our genealogy lab, adult coloring club, knitting club, and more. Take a look at our programming calendar for more details.
