Jamestown High School will be presenting Seussical the musical on Thursday, March 30th and Friday, March 31st at 7 p.m. and again on Saturday, April 1st at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the Merton P. Corwin Auditorium at the Jamestown High School. Seussical weaves together many of the beloved stories of Dr. Seuss. The musical is a fun performance for all ages.
“The students involved in the cast, crew, and pit orchestra ofSeussical have worked so hard to make this show a success,” said Seussical Director Lauren Scharf. “I’m so proud of the how well the students were able to bring the characters of Dr. Seuss’s stories to life!”
Seussical begins when a “thinker” named Jojo (Makenna Graham) stumbles upon an unusual red and white striped hat and meets, to her surprise, a mischievous Cat (Gavin Card). Then, Jojo is pushed into a story about Horton the Elephant (Cameron Lydell) who is trying to save a whole tiny town of Who’s. However, in trying to save the Who’s, Horton is ridiculed by the Sour Kangaroo (Emily Anderson) and the other citizens of the Jungle of Nool which leaves him feeling “alone in the universe.” Along the way, we are introduced to other characters that present obstacles that Horton must overcome. Will Horton convince his the citizens of the Jungle of Nool that the Who’s exist, or will his tiny friends perish in a “hot steaming kettle of beezlenut oil?!”
Directed by Lauren Scharf, Musical Director Marci Johnson, Orchestra Director Gina Wakefield and choreographed by Jaclyn Haskell, Seussical is a family-friendly show that teaches lessons of friendship, acceptance, and loyalty. Tickets can be purchased for $8.00 from any cast, pit, or crewmember, or at the door.
