Registration for several summer youth programs at Jamestown Community College’s Jamestown Campus has begun.
The programs feature interactive classes in science, technology, engineering, math, art, culinary arts, and music.
To register, call or visit JCC’s Center for Continuing Education in the Carnahan Center, 338-1005. The center is open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Individuals can sign up for full-day and half-day camp options in Kids’ College, offered July 24 through 28. The program is designed for youth ages 8 – 12. Among the course options are Tasty Way to Start Your Day, Colossal Concoctions, Amped Up, Game Show Extravaganza, Minecraft™ Animators, Too Cool-Science Rules, and Artists Abound. A full course list can be obtained by contacting JCC’s Center for Continuing Education.
Tech College, a new program for youth ages 10 – 14, will be held July 31 through August 3 from 9 a.m. to noon. Students interested in mobile app design can customize their own game app in Game App Attack.
Wee College is offered July 31 through August 3. These classes, for children ages 6 and 7, include A Wee Bit ‘O Math, in which students learn about math, shapes, and patterns, and A Wee Bit ‘O Science, a course dedicated to plants and insects. Participants choose either a morning or afternoon session.
A limited number of scholarships, provided through the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation’s Blossom Fund and the JCC Foundation, are available. To be eligible for a scholarship, an individual must qualify and provide documentation for the public school free or reduced price lunch program or provide documentation of income based on the number of persons in the household.
