Members of Jamestown Community College’s sustainability committee and Earth Awareness Club collaborated to have a the milkweed patch on the campus grounds certified as a monarch butterfly waystation on MonarchWatch.org‘s national registry. The conservation effort was undertaken to raise awareness about the status of the monarch butterfly. A monarch waystation provides resources necessary for monarchs to produce successive generations throughout their spring and summer breeding areas, culminating in migration each fall to Mexico and California.
