The Robert H. Jackson Center, a non-profit dedicated to promoting liberty under law through the examination of the life and work of Supreme Court Justice Robert H. Jackson, and its relevance to current events and issues, will host “The Priceless Art of Free Expression”, a benefit gala to support the Jackson Center’s mission and programs, on Sunday, August 6, 2017, at Chautauqua Suites Meeting & Expo Center, 215 W. Lake Road, Mayville, NY. Jackson Center President Susan Moran Murphy made the announcement.

The gala begins at 5:00pm with an open-bar cocktail hour and live entertainment featuring the music of Razz’s Big Band. Guests will be able to mingle, dance, and bid on an array of silent auction items available and preview a vast variety of artwork, memorabilia, and collectibles to be auctioned live after dinner. Arrive early to take advantage of exciting silent auction experiences available, including tickets to see Andrea Bocelli in concert at Madison Square Garden and tickets to watch a Chicago Cubs game from the Wrigley Field Rooftop Bleachers. Dinner begins at 6:00 pm and entertainment continues with a performance by Guys and Dolls Dance Studio. The live auction begins at 7:30 pm, conducted by the oldest professional art auction house in the northeast, Marlin Art. Marlin is donating a unique piece of art to be raffled, as well. Guests are not obligated to bid but there will be a range of prices and pieces available for those who wish to participate in this aspect of the fundraiser.

Justice Robert H. Jackson’s judicial legacy is often best appreciated by examining his views on the right to free expression. Jackson witnessed, first-hand, how democracy was dismantled in Germany’s culturally rich society when the right to free artistic expression through fine art, literature, radio broadcast, music or theatrical presentation was subjugated to the promotion of one national objective. “The Priceless Art of Free Expression” celebrates the variety of artistic expression permitted in a free society and supports the Jackson Center’s work to explore and appreciate just how priceless freedom is to us all.
