In November 2016, Heritage employee Shari Robbins lost her life as a victim of domestic violence as she was on her way to work.

Nearly one in four women in the US reports experiencing violence by a current or former spouse or boyfriend at some point in her life, and 1 in 7 women and 1 in 18 men have been stalked by an intimate partner during their lifetime to the point in which they felt very fearful or believed that they or someone close to them would be harmed or killed.

As an organization, Heritage has committed to do all that they can do to prevent this type of tragedy from happening again to one of their own, or anyone else who might be dealing with a similar issue.

This October and November as a part of their “Shine The Light” campaign to raise awareness about domestic violence, Heritage worked to raise funds for the Anew Center in Jamestown. Through their endeavors, which included Shine The Light shirt sales, bracelet sales and employee donations, Heritage was recently able to donate $2,000 to the Anew Center in Jamestown.

Lisa Haglund, Director of Marketing and Development for Heritage said, “Heritage, one of the largest employees of Senior Care in Chautauqua County, wants to make a positive impact for not only our employees, but for Chautauqua County as a whole. By raising awareness and funds to benefit the Anew center, we feel we can create positive change and we ask that other organizations throughout Chautauqua County join us in making a difference in regards to Domestic Violence. Together, we can create change and help those who so desperately are in need of our help.”
