This workshop features the United States Federal Census records for 1790 through 1840.
Only the Head of Household was listed by name in these early census records, but the census does provide numerous other pieces of information. The workshop will cover strategies for using the “tick marks” to determine members of the household, which are mostly based on using other records.
Combined with information the census provides, it can give more of a snapshot of a family in the early 19th century.
