Where were you on July 20th of 1969? There are people who weren’t born yet, others who were still in school, others were involved with the Vietnam conflict and others were working towards a career. On this date, 50 years ago, one of the most historic events occurred. The first humans successfully landed on an alien world, our Moon, and began to explore its surface. This was the mission of Apollo 11. This and other missions expanded our reach as explorers into the unknown.
Christopher Centi, CEO of Centi Astro-Space Activities will be offering a series of presentations exploring Apollo 11, other Apollo missions and interesting lunar characteristics. They will be held at the Barker Library in Fredonia, NY on Thursday’s June 20th, 27th and July 11th at 6:00 PM. The public is invited to attend and get involved with these presentations which will include hands-on activities, videos and discussions. On June 20th we will explore the Apollo 11 mission and people will be able to share stories of their experience of this event. We will also explore some of the characteristics of the Moon using hands-on activities. On June 27th other Apollo missions will be covered along with some more hands-on activities. The last presentation on July 11th will include a discussion on the question of, “If the Moon didn’t exist or it was destroyed, what effect would that have on the Earth?”
