Now, this sounds like an obvious question, but.. What does it feel like to eat healthy? Most people don’t know.
Here are some simple questions to ask yourself to find out that if it is time to change:
Are you physically full but still hungry?
Do you get hungry soon after you eat?
Do you have cravings for sweets?
Do you feel tired or hyper?
Do you find it difficult to focus?
Are you spacey or your mind races?
Do you feel down, blue, apathetic or short tempered?
Do you experience any symptoms or aggravation of chronic symptoms after eating?
Does your food just sit there?
Are you having acid reflux?
Constipation? Diarrhea? Both?
Do your friends call you farty pants?
Well, your body is trying to talk to you. Here, I’ll translate for you. “You are eating the wrongs things for your body and I want you to change what you are eating before you make us very sick.”
But wait! Everyone gets these symptoms. Surprise, surprise. Most of the world doesn’t. It is only those countries that have American style diets that suffer like we do.
But won’t my medications help me? A recent study by the World Health Organization of the health of the industrialized countries found that the USA had the lowest blood pressure and cholesterol of any industrialized country. At the same time, the USA had the highest incidence of heart attacks and strokes of all the countries surveyed. The conclusion reached was that the medications for cholesterol and blood pressure are not doing anything to prevent actual disease.
What has been found to help health in study, after study, is proper nutrition and eating whole foods. Now for my most controversial point. Eating a strictly plant based diet is not the answer. We humans became humans because, we started eating meat and cooking foods.
The answer is simply eating a variety of whole foods that are unprocessed that our ancestors ate.
