Edgewood Communities will host its next seminar in the Best of Times Series entitled Medicaid and Long Term Care Insurance. The community is invited to the Chapel in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center on the Lutheran Campus, Thursday, May 15th at 6:30 p.m. Janell Sluga, Certified Geriatric Care Manager for the Senior Life Matters program will be the presenter. Reservations are appreciated by calling 716.720.9122.

“These two topics are very intimidating,” Sluga said. “Most people don’t know where to start. They see dozens of pages in the application for Medicaid and it’s overwhelming. We’ll take it one step at a time and I’ll explain when certain information is needed and when it isn’t.”

Choosing Long Term Care (LTC) insurance is a very personal decision and is unique to each individual. “I will talk about what LTC insurance means, how to use it and what it can and can’t cover,” she said. “There’s no crystal ball. The best way for persons to make decisions about LTC insurance, not unlike our car insurance and health insurance, is to become educated about the options available. We have to take some risk and do our best to project our future needs.”

Following the presentation there will be time for a question and answer period.
