Dave Warren has a passion for automobiless. It started as a boy fascinated by his neighbor’s racing cars. Dan Armbruster was a popular late model racer who burned up the oval at Stateline Raceway over the years and won many championships.
Right out of high school, Warren sold used cars for a dealer in Jamestown and stayed with it for the next 14 years. In fact, Warren has sold a wide variety makes and models over his 25 year career in automobile sales, and he brings that passion – through the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and RAM lines of vehicles – to Jamestown.
The Dave Warren Auto Group opened its doors in the city in June 2014, although Warren’s partners, Tim Marburger and Jim Wetstone own an additional 13 dealerships throughout the region, employing 40 residents of Jamestown and 400 across their entire network. Before coming to Jamestown, Warren served as the general manager at New Motors in Erie, PA.
“I really didn’t know what to do when I got out of high school,” Warren said, so he tried his hand at sales “My first job was selling vacuum cleaners. However, I soon took a job with a friends’ used car dealership in Northeast, PA.”
“I like the opportunity to meet new people, and in so many cases, make their car dreams come true,” Warren said. “It’s a fun and exciting time, the best part of my job.” He enjoys connecting with everyone who walks into his showroom, talking with them over a cup of coffee.
Warren keeps a close eye on the latest trends and driver preferences in the automotive industry. He notes the turn towards performance that Dodge is taking, for instance, with models like the Challenger Hellcat and the Charger. He also noted that while Jeep is bringing back the Grand Wagoneer, which they discontinued in 1991, they are also looking ahead with the surprise they plan to deliver under the hood of the new Grand Cherokee.
“They put the Hellcat engine in the Grand Cherokee,” Warren said enthusiastically. “That’s a special car.”
Warren likes the other new features, too, the ones that serve growing families. “I like to let families know we’re thinking about them and their needs,” he said. “Selling cars is a personal service in a community like Jamestown. I take that seriously.” He said that the company has a new SUV, yet to be named, rolling off the line soon – the first with the “stow and go seats” from their line of minivans.
“In used cars, we specialize in local, one owner trade-ins,” Warren said. “If we don’t have what you’re looking for, we are more than likely to find it at one of my partner’s other stores.”
Customers may see some construction when they visit the showroom, Warren said, because the service department is currently undergoing a complete renovation. He noted that not only is the waiting area all new, but there will also be a new front end alignment machine, lifts, wheel balancer and tire machine.
The service department also has installed a new computer system which allows the vehicle’s computer to download data into an iPad, Warren explained. It reports on any maintenance due to the vehicle regardless of make or model.
