The Chautauqua Region Community Foundation is looking for a hero.

An unsung hero, that is.

The Foundation is currently accepting nominations for its 2020 Unsung Hero Award, which annually recognizes volunteers in the southern Chautauqua County region.

Past recipients have been individuals, couples, or groups, who have given their time and talents to a variety of local organizations, churches and community events. They have also been neighbors who saw a need in their community and addressed it, without expecting any reward or recognition.

Since 1986, the Foundation has presented its Unsung Hero Award in memory of Swedish immigrant Axel Carlson, who moved to Jamestown and spent his life quietly helping those in need.

To nominate someone making a difference in your community, complete the nomination form at

For more information, or for a paper copy of the nomination form, contact CRCF communications officer, Sarah Shelters, at 661-3390 or sshelters@crcfonline.org.

Nominations are due March 2.
