The Community Music Project is excited to announce its third choral music concert of the season. The communities of Jamestown and Westfield are invited to a free concert entitled “Centuries of Love Songs”. This concert will be the first collaboration between the Community Music Project and the Lakeshore Center for the Arts.
The Chautauqua Chamber Singers, under the direction of Rebecca Ryan, will present the familiar Irish love song “Danny Boy” in addition to early French, Spanish and English love songs, some dating back to the 16th century. The wide range of songs in varied styles will be expertly accompanied on piano by Charles Johnson.
A special highlight of each concert will be a performance by special guests “The Bonnie Loch Fiddlers” under the direction of Sue Tillotson. This group of talented musicians is comprised of high school students representing schools from throughout Chautauqua County. In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, the audience will be treated to their selections of Irish jigs and Scottish reels.
The concerts will be presented at the First Presbyterian Church in Westfield on Saturday, March 16 at 4:00 and in Jamestown on Sunday, March 17 at 4:00. Both concerts are free of charge. A freewill offering will be taken to benefit Community Music Project. Visit CMPSINGS.COM for complete information on our concerts as well as joining our CMP Chorale. CMP’s non- audition choir open to all free of charge. Rehearsal begin March 18th.
