The Rubber Ducky Race will be back again this year at the Chautauqua Lake Dragon Boat Race event Saturday August 12, 2017 at Lucille Ball Memorial Park in Celoron, NY. Hosted by the Greater Chautauqua Federal Credit Union, the Ducky Race is a community fundraiser to benefit the Chautauqua Lake Association and Lakers Disabled Sled Hockey Team.

Ducky Racer Tickets can now be purchased for $5 at any of the GCF Credit Union’s four locations, Falconer, Jamestown, Dunkirk and Mayville. The first ducky to cross the finish line will win $500 cash, with cash payouts for the next 10 places. You can also visit the GCF Credit Union’s Rubber Ducky booth at McCrea Point on Saturday, July 8 and at the Chautauqua County Fair on Wednesday, July 26 to learn more about the race.

Last year, almost 2,500 duckies were launched into Chautauqua Lake, raising over $12,000! This year the goal is to break that record and reach 3,000 duckies! The Rubber Ducky Race will start at approximately 4 p.m., immediately following the dragon boat awards ceremony. The community is invited to witness this one of a kind event and cheer on the duckies to the finished line.

The second annual CHQ Dragon Boat Race will kick off Saturday morning at 9 a.m. with an opening ceremony featuring the waking of the dragon. The day will go on to host more than 20 teams racing with the conclusion of an awards ceremony and the grand finale Rubber Ducky Race. This event has something for everyone whether you are a race participant or community spectator, come on down and get in on the fun.
