Christine A. (Carlson) Jenkins was born August 8, 1969 in Jamestown, New York. She is a 1987 graduate of Panama Central School. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Grove City College in 1991 and a Master’s Degree from the University of Virginia in 1995.
Chris was an outstanding athlete at Panama Central competing in varsity track in 7th and 8th grade, JV volleyball and basketball in 8 th and 9 th grade, and varsity volleyball, basketball and softball as a sophomore, junior and senior.
She was a three-time Division II basketball First Team All-Star establishing Panama records for career points (1184), single season points (510), single game points (34), and single game rebounds (25) at the time of her graduation. She was the area scoring leader in basketball in both her junior and senior years.
Jenkins was a three-time Division II volleyball First Team All-Star and a Division II softball First Team All-Star as a senior. She was named Panama’s Female Athlete of Year for 1986-87.
Chris was an acclaimed two-sport athlete at Grove City College lettering in both volleyball and basketball for four years.
In volleyball, she was a three-year Co-Captain and Grove City’s Most Valuable Player and a three-time First Team Presidents’ Athletic Conference All-Star.
In basketball, Jenkins was Grove City’s Co-Captain and Most Valuable Player in her junior and senior years. She was a three-time Presidents’ Athletic Conference First Team All- Star and the MVP of the PAC in her senior year. She ranked third in GCC all-time career scoring (1,337 points) at the time of her graduation and was named a NCAA Division III District 4 All-American.
She was the Grove City College Sports Woman of the Year for 1990-91.
Jenkins was elected to the Grove City Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011 and was named to the Presidents’ Athletic Conference 60 th Anniversary Team for Women’s Basketball.
She is currently employed as a teacher in the Shenandoah County Public Schools and resides in Strasburg, Virginia.
