Cathy Peterson, Home Health Aide (HHA), was honored as the Employee of the Year representing Hultquist Place Assisted Living at Lutheran. The event took place at the Rosch Center on the Edgewood campus where a special dinner was prepared by Lutheran Chef Dave Bollman and his staff.

Kathy Lynch, administrator for Hultquist Place presented Peterson with her award and shared many accolades regarding her. Nominations were received from the residents who live at Hultquist Place. “In reviewing the nominations, the first thing that became apparent was that Cathy is worthy of trust,” Lynch said. “Her friendly smile and courteous manner make her readily approachable both by co-workers and residents. She’s a high energy worker who uses organization, planning and knowledge of her residents to improve efficiency. At any time during her shift she has the uncanny ability to know what should be happening to whom and what needs to happen next.”

Since 2011, Cathy has worked full time on the evening shift. She is passionate about helping new staff members become oriented to life at Hultquist Place, which ultimately leads to quality care and better employee retention.

“The residents voted and that is what is so special to me,” Cathy said. “I am honored to be selected because I truly care about them and love caring for them.”

Hultquist Place offers a worry free lifestyle with the warm and intimate feeling of home. It is a New York State Assisted Living Program that gives seniors access to many different services, so they can remain healthier, more active and independent. Located on the beautiful Lutheran campus, 44 additional suites were added in 2011, in response to an increased demand for this level of care.
